Kundalini Yoga

Gabrielle Bernstein introduced me to Kundalini yoga and naturally I began exploring it more, but I was really taken when I did some deeper digging for this post. So how is Kundalini different from your usual run of the mill yoga? Kundalini is definitely more of a spiritual, metaphysical journey. Practicing yogis are seeking to be awakened. Permanent awakening can take 20 to 30 years. Yep it’s not for everyone or for the person looking for a quick fix. This takes dedication and practice. But it dos have a big pay off? Surging energy anyone?

Kundalini is actually talking about the latent energy nestled in our scrum in ever person. It can be activated through yoga, breathing (pranayama), herbs, vibrations created through mantra chants, and initiation (energy transmission).

They have actually done studies, notably on groups participating in intensive retreats and practice. Benefits include:

  • Surge in energy levels
  • Healing- chronic diseases
  • Enhance mental abilities
  • more effective decision-making
  • enhanced interpersonal relationships
  • warm and positive personality trends
  • sharper focus
  • higher alertness
  • extremely rapid multi-processing
  • better short-term memory
  • slower aging
  • strength
  • charisma
  • leadership
  • sense of calm

So basically some serious mediation practice everyday can lead to serenity, positive energy,, stronger, younger individuals. Not to forget that Kundalini opens up all 7 energy centers (check yesterday’s post). If this is something that interests you check out the beginners video, I have personally been practicing this the past few weeks.
