Featured Food: Turkey Eggs

Pinned ImageI believe this is my last egg posts (at least in February) and it is going to be short. Turkey eggs and information are harder to find. It never even occurred to me that you could get turkey eggs until last week it appeared on my recommended blogs. I have never seen a turkey egg at the grocer or market, that doesn’t mean they are impossible to come by (actually I know where several hens roost I could probably find some). Of course a turkey egg is larger than a chicken egg. It has 9 grams of fat, 3 of them saturated, and 11 grams of protein. They are richer in iron, folate, and vitamin B12 than chicken eggs. Other nutrients to their pedigree include:

  • vitamin A
  • riboflavin
  • vitamin B6
  • calcium
  • phosphorus
  • manganese
  • magnesium
  • potassium
  • zinc
  • selenium

Just another food to have in your menu arsenal if you can find them to gobble down (sorry for the lame pun but I had to put something)!
